Project description
TrainESEE v.2 is a capacity building project targeted at the six universities of the East and South Eastern Europe, with a focus on improving specific generic skills, in line with the curricula insufficiencies identified through the implementation of the EE S – Train ESEE pilot (2017-2018). The duration of the project is 2 years (01/01/2020 – 31/12/2021), during which four training modules will be developed, implemented and prepared as acceleration programmes:
- Teaching methodology
- Project preparation and management
- Innovation and entrepreneurial module
- Science to Business module
Within the project, each of the six participating RIS Universities will collaborate in the preparation of the acceleration programmes. Acceleration programmes are planned to last continuously for the minimum of 3 years after the implementation, increasing the percentage of the trained academic staff to >50% at each of the “Training” universities.

Project objective and scope
The objective of the project is to achieve multifaceted benefits for the beneficiaries i.e. universities and academic staff/associates/lecturers at RM-related study programs and students enrolled at RM programmes and sector specific industry from ESEE region, as the end-users.
Due to implementation of the improved curricula, project will result in an increased rating and employability of the newly graduated students from the corresponding universities. In short term (during the project duration), it is estimated that about 240 students will benefit from 140 improved RM-related courses, increasing their level of innovation and entrepreneurial skills.
In terms of benefits for the universities, it is expected that the number of the project submissions to the national/international funding schemes will increase, resulting in a gradual long-term increase of the participating universities’ overall ranking.
Project activities
The project objectives will be achieved through the following key activities:
1) delivering an educational based SWOT analyses of the six universities (RM-focused) from six RIS ESEE countries;
2) development of four transferable generic skills modules for RIS ESEE academic staff in: Teaching methodology, Project development and management, Innovation and entrepreneurial skills and Science to Business competences.
3) delivering four modular training workshops for academic staff/associates form six RIS ESEE universities, to be held in Krakow, Košice, Miskolc and one more selected ESEE university;
4) establishment of self-sustainable acceleration programmes at each of the six participating RIS universities;
5) dissemination of the four developed TrainESEE modules for the benefit of the other education stakeholders in RIS ESEE countries;
6) building a new educational collaborative network between different RIS ESEE universities, non RIS universities and research institutes, contributing to building, training and consolidating of the ESEE educational and scientific community.
